Win An Early ARC and Some Changes
Hello lovely friends!
It’s wonderful to be writing to you again. This is a quick one; not just because a long email while we’re all still in our Christmas daze simply does not feel like the vibe but because all I really have to do is announce 1 cool thing and let you know about some coming changes to the newsletter.
Let's start with the cool stuff; the competition to win an early ARC of my 2025 debut novel ‘Some Advanced Notes On Practical Dreaming’ is now OPEN. An ARC, or early reader copy, is an early (uncorrected and pending some final changes) copy of a completed novel. My ARCs won't widely available until the summer (more on that later) however I am also sending a few copies out in March; a few to kind friends who will be reading and blurbing Dreamers for me, and one to the lucky person who wins this competition.
The rules are simple; fill out each round of this Google Form (this is round 1, round 2 is in January and round 3 is in Feb) by saying which of the two options you think is most likely to make it into the final cover of Dreamers, which is being revealed on March 1st 2025. Whoever gets all the right answers first OR whoever gets the most right answers gets an early physical ARC of Dreamers, as well as some fun super secret goodies as well. It's worth noting that the winner must have completed every round of the contest so it's worth keeping an eye on your emails. This means getting to read the book six months before it officially comes out so it's a pretty great deal imo! Go crazy! Have fun! I hope you guys give this a crack as my cover is so unbelievably beautiful, and I've gotten to work with such an incredible artist on this project that truly nothing gives me more joy than getting to hype it up and shout about it from the rooftops.
And then the less exciting update, which is that some changes are coming to the newsletter, starting this month.
I love writing these. I love getting to talk to people in a longer format. I love getting to shout about the things I love. But I do worry that I can't make each month's sendout super exciting; the true, but unexciting, state of working on books is that months go by with absolutely nothing to report other than...there is a book. A book that you are working on YES STILL WORKING ON IT, nope no news other than that. Which is just not the most engaging to read? I fear?
I'm switching things up a bit; instead of one, long monthly newsletter you'll only be getting a newsletter when I actually do have something to say. You will still get access to every update and sale early, as well as behind the scenes content (I'm hoping to send out the occasional longer piece, when I have something to share that I've really been chewing over) but only when I actually have something to say.
What this means is that some months you may get multiple short emails - but some months you may also get nothing at all. For example you'll hear from me twice in Jan/Feb (though I gotta say at least one of those emails is like...three lines) because I have multiple announcements to make, but only once in Mar/Apr. I hope this makes sense! I hope it works out! If not, hop into my insta DMs or the email that's on my website and we'll change things up once more!
Happy new year pals. I hope 2o25 is kinder to us. I hope we are all kinder to ourselves.
Speak soon,
Clarey
